Lutalyse is used as a luteolytic agent in cattle, for parturition induction in swine, and for its luteolytic effect in mares. Lutalyse is indicated for estrus synchronization, treatment of unobserved (silent) estrus and pyometra (chronic endometritis) in cattle; for abortion of feedlot and other non-lactating cattle; for parturition induction in swine; and for controlling the timing of estrus in estrous cycling mares and clinically anestrous mares that have a corpus luteum. Lutalyse Sterile Solution is supplied at a concentration of 5 mg dinoprost per ml.

Salix 5% Injection is administered intramuscularly (IM) or intravenously. The usual dosage of Salix 5% Injection for cattle is 10 ml (500 mg) once daily or 5 ml (250 mg) twice daily at 12 hour intervals. The usual dosage of Salix 5% Injection for horses is 5-10 ml (250-500 mg) once or twice daily at 6 to 8 hour intervals.
