Detomidine Hydrochloride Injection is a non-narcotic sedative and analgesic for use in horses. Each ml contains 10 mg detomidine hydrochloride. Indicated for use as a sedative and analgesic to facilitate minor surgical and diagnostic procedures in mature horses and yearlings. It has been used successfully to calm fractious horses, to provide relief from abdominal pain and to facilitate medical procedures. Detomidine Hydrochloride is given intravenous (IV) or intramuscular (IM), depending upon application, and is typically administered at the rate of 0.2 or 0.4 ml per 220 lbs. body weight, depending on the depth and duration of sedation or anesthesia required.
