Legacy Gentamicin Sulfate Solution is recommended for the control of bacterial infections of the uterus (metritis) in horses and as an aid in improving conception in mares with uterine infections caused by bacteria that are sensitive to gentamicin. Legacy contains 100 mg gentamicin sulfate solution per ml. The recommended dosage is 20-25 ml daily for 3-5 days during estrus. Description

 Solution is a broad spectrum antibiotic and is the leading veterinary anti-bacterial recommendation for the treatment of infectious diseases caused by Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria susceptible to gentamicin, such as:

 

  • Respiratory tract infections
  • Gastro-intestinal infections
  • Uro-genital tract infections
  • Skin and wound infections
  • Speticaemia
  • Arthritis

 

In contrast with most other currently used antibiotics, gentamicin exerts pronounced bactericidal activity against several often multi-resistant gram-negative pathogens such as E. Coli, Salmonella spp., Klebsiella spp., Proteus spp. and Pseudomonas spp. which makes it a multi-species use antibiotic option.
